In a joint forces operation in capital's Mohammadpur, two people were killed. However, their identities remain unknown. The incident occurred around 1:00 am on Thursday, during an operation in the 40 Feet area of Basila, Mohammadpur. Five individuals were arrested at the scene, and weapons were confiscated. A law enforcement official said that during a routine patrol, armed militants suddenly opened fire on the joint forces. In response, the forces returned fire, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Abdur Rob, a wireless operator at Mohammadpur police station, told the media that the police were sent to the scene after receiving news of the two deaths.

রাজধানীর মোহাম্মদপুরে যৌথবাহিনীর অভিযানে দুইজন নিহত হওয়ার খবর পাওয়া গেছে। তবে তাদের পরিচয় এখনো জানা যায়নি। বুধবার (১৯ ফেব্রুয়ারি) দিবাগত রাত ১টার দিকে মোহাম্মদপুরের বসিলার ৪০ ফিট এলাকায় অভিযান চলাকালে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। পরে ঘটনাস্থল থেকে পাঁচজনকে আটক ও অস্ত্র উদ্ধার করা হয়। এ বিষয়ে আইন-শৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীর দায়িত্বশীল একজন কর্মকর্তা জানান, যৌথবাহিনীর নিয়মিত টহলের সময়ে কিছু অস্ত্রধারী সন্ত্রাসী যৌথবাহিনীর সদস্যদের ওপর অতর্কিত গুলি চালায়। এ সময় যৌথবাহিনীর সদস্যরা পাল্টা গুলি চালালে দুইজন নিহত হয়। এ ব্যাপারে মোহাম্মদপুর থানার ওয়্যারলেস অপারেটর আব্দুর রব সংবাদমাধ্যমকে জানান, দুজন নিহত হওয়ার খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে পুলিশ পাঠানো হয়েছে।
