Two killed in Natore road crash

A tragic accident on the Bogura Highway in Natore claimed two lives when a bus rammed into a van.

The accident took place around 11:30pm in the Barurhat area of ​​Sadar upazila on Saturday (August 23).

The deceased were identified as Mozammel Haque, 40, the van driver, and Akhtar Hossain, 48, a passenger—both from Baro Barihaty village in Singra upazila.

Mahabur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Jhalmalia Highway Police Station, said, "A southbound night coach from Bogura collided head-on with a van coming from the opposite direction. The impact caused the van to overturn and land on the side of the road. Van driver Mozammel Haque and passenger Akhtar Hossain were critically injured and rushed to Natore Sadar Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead."

"The bus was seized near the Pabna border following the accident, but the driver and his assistant fled the scene and remain at large," he added.
