Two killed in three-vehicle crash in Chandpur
Two people were killed and two others injured after a CNG-powered autorickshaw collided with a pickup truck and a private car on the Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway on Tuesday (September 15).
The crash took place in the afternoon in front of the Mandari Kamal Miji house near Mahamaya in Chandpur Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Mohor Ali, 60, son of the late Omar Ali of Fatehpur in Kachua upazila, and CNG driver Kabir Mal.
According to local residents, the CNG-run autorickshaw was carrying passengers from Chandpur towards Hajiganj when a private car travelling ahead suddenly braked hard. The autorickshaw rammed into the car and was thrown into the path of an oncoming pickup.
The driver and passengers were thrown onto the road, leaving four people injured. Locals rescued them and took them to the 250-bed Chandpur Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared Kabir dead. Mohor died at the scene.
The two other injured passengers received treatment at the hospital.
Chandpur Sadar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Foyez Ahmed confirmed the deaths, saying the bodies were handed over to the families after completion of the legal procedures.
