Two killed in truck-minibus collision on Gazipur flyover

Two people have been killed and at least five injured in a collision between a rod-laden truck and a minibus on the Konabari flyover in Gazipur on the Dhaka-Tangail highway. The accident occurred on Sunday evening, April 5.

According to police and local sources, a passenger bus of Takwa Transport was travelling towards Tangail when it collided with a speeding rod-laden truck on the flyover. One passenger died at the scene. Another critically injured passenger died on the way to hospital. The identities of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed.

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to hospitals. Two of the injured were admitted to Konabari Popular Hospital and three to Konabari Central Hospital. Police and fire service members arrived at the scene, conducted rescue operations and cleared the vehicles to normalise traffic on the highway.

Konabari Police Station Sub-Inspector Abdul Hamid said efforts are underway to identify the deceased, and legal action is being taken regarding the incident.
