Two madrasa students missing for 4 days in Cumilla's Chauddagram

Two students of a madrasa in Cumilla's Chauddagram have been missing for four days. They have not been found since they left home to go to the madrasa as usual. In this incident, separate general diaries (GDs) have been filed with the police station by the families of the two students.

The two missing students are Mahima Akter Mahi (12) and Mariam Akter Tanisha (13). Mahima is the daughter of Mohi Uddin, an expatriate in Saudi Arabia, of Jugirkandi village in Chauddagram upazila. Tanisha is the daughter of Jahangir Alam, an expatriate in Dubai, of the same area.

Local sources said Mahima and Tanisha are sixth and seventh grade students of Al-Amin Mohila Madrasa located on Bhushchi Road in Kashinagar Bazar. They left home for the madrasa around 8am last Thursday. They have not returned home since.

After searching in various places without finding them, family members filed two separate GDs with Chauddagram Police Station on Friday. As of Sunday night, police could not provide any trace of them.

Family members of the two missing students said they are spending days in extreme anxiety as the girls have not been found. They have called on law enforcement agencies to find them quickly.

Meanwhile, some locals fear the two students may have fallen into the clutches of a human trafficking ring. However, no confirmed information has been found on this so far. Locals fear an untoward incident if they are not rescued quickly.

Chauddagram Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Arif Hossain said separate general diaries have been filed at the police station over the two students going missing. Police are trying to identify and rescue them with the help of information technology.
