Two more Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims die in Saudi Arabia, death toll rises to 6
Two more Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have died in Saudi Arabia, bringing the total number of deaths among Bangladeshi pilgrims this year to six.
The information was obtained from the daily bulletin of the IT Help Desk of the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Hajj Portal in the early hours of Tuesday, April 28.
The two deceased pilgrims are Md Abdul Hai, 61, of Madarganj, Jamalpur, who died in Madinah, and Md Abdullah Al Mamun, 58, of Sreebardi, Sherpur, who died in Makkah. The ministry said they died of natural causes.
Earlier, Md Khalilur Rahman, 64, of Birampur, Dinajpur, died on April 26; Md Sirajul Haque, 66, of Pagla, Mymensingh, died on April 25; Md Abul Kashem, 70, of Tangail Sadar, died on April 22; and Md Noim Uddin Mandal, 75, of Joypurhat, died on April 21. All six deceased were male. Five died in Madinah and one in Makkah.
Meanwhile, 36,996 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia on 92 Hajj flights so far. Among them, 3,284 pilgrims have travelled under government management and 33,712 under private management.
Subject to moon sighting, the holy Hajj is scheduled to be performed in Saudi Arabia on May 26. Flights carrying pilgrims will continue until May 31. Return flights will begin on May 30 and continue until June 30.
