The measles outbreak in the country shows no signs of slowing. In the last 24 hours, two more children have died from confirmed measles or measles-like symptoms. The total number of child deaths from measles since March 15 has now reached 169.

This information was provided in a press release from the Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Saturday, April 11.

Analysis of data from the health directorate shows that 18,874 children have been infected with measles across the country since March 15. Of these, 24 children have died from confirmed measles, and a further 145 have died from measles-like symptoms or suspected cases.

Among those infected, the presence of measles has been confirmed in 2,489 children, while an additional 14,385 suspected cases have been recorded by the health directorate.

Analysis of the infection data by division shows that Dhaka division is the most vulnerable in terms of infection and death toll, followed by Rajshahi division.

According to the health directorate, the total number of confirmed and suspected infections in Dhaka division has reached 7,478. Rajshahi division has recorded 3,449 infected children.

Public health experts attribute the rapid spread of infection in these regions to high population density.
