Two more children die of measles-like symptoms

Two more patients have died from measles-like symptoms across the country, with hundreds of new suspected cases reported, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

“During the past 24 hours, 970 new suspected measles cases were reported nationwide, while 114 patients were confirmed through laboratory tests,” said the DGHS said in a press release today (June 30).

The DGHS said a total of 84,627 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospitals since March 15. Among them, 80,974 have recovered and been discharged after treatment.

The cumulative number of suspected measles cases has reached 101,077, while the total number of laboratory-confirmed cases stands at 11,965 during the March 15–June 30 period.

Since March 15, a total of 625 children have died from suspected measles and measles-like symptoms across the country.

However, no new deaths from laboratory-confirmed measles were reported in the last 24 hours. The total number of confirmed measles deaths remains unchanged at 93, the DGHS added.
