Two more die from dengue in 24 hrs, 423 hospitalised
The dengue outbreak in the country continues to worsen. Two more people have died from the mosquito-borne disease in the past 24 hours, according to a notification from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday (August 2).
During the same period, 423 new dengue patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country. This brings the total number of cases reported since January to 16,104, with 56 deaths so far this year.
The two fatalities in the past 24 hours were residents of Barishal and Khulna divisions, the DGHS said. The true scale of the outbreak may be larger, as many cases are treated outside the hospital system, and official data often lags behind the actual situation.
