Two more die of dengue, 190 hospitalised in 24 hours

Two more people have died of dengue in the country in the past 24 hours, raising the death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 24 this year.

According to a daily bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Thursday (July 9), 190 new patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country during the 24-hour period ending on Wednesday morning.

Among the newly hospitalised patients, 31 were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation, while 40 were admitted under Dhaka South City Corporation.

Outside the capital, Barishal Division recorded the highest number of new admissions with 48 patients, followed by 34 in Chattogram, 22 in Khulna, seven in Rajshahi, six in Mymensingh, and two in Sylhet.

During the same period, 193 patients were discharged from hospitals after completing their treatment.

According to the DGHS, a total of 7,747 dengue patients have been hospitalised across the country since January 1. Of them, 7,068 patients have fully recovered and been discharged.
