Two more die of dengue in 24 hours
Two more people have died of dengue fever across the country in the last 24 hours. The Directorate General of Health Services confirmed this in a notification on Thursday.
With this, the total number of dengue-related deaths so far this year has risen to 65. On Wednesday, the health directorate had also reported two deaths from dengue.
According to the DGHS, 693 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals in the 24 hours from 8am on Wednesday (August 12). The total number of dengue cases in 2026 has now reached 22,243.
The notification said the two deaths in the last 24 hours were residents of Dhaka South and North City Corporations. So far, 20,563 dengue patients have been discharged from hospitals.
DGHS data shows that July recorded the highest number of dengue cases this year, with 9,206 infections. In June, 2,907 cases were reported. In January, 1,081 cases were recorded, followed by 409 in February, 353 in March, 640 in April, and 714 in May. In the first 13 days of August alone, 6,933 dengue cases have been detected.
