Two motorcyclists killed in bus collision in Faridpur
Two motorcyclists were killed after a passenger bus of Sakura Paribahan hit them in Nagarkanda upazila, Faridpur, on Sunday afternoon, July 5.
The accident occurred around 5:30 pm on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in the Mashaujan area of Dangi union.
The deceased were identified as Mahim Matubbar, 22, and Rofizul Matubbar, 22, from Chak Naodubi village in Fulsuti union, Nagarkanda upazila. Mahim, the motorcyclist, died on the spot. Rofizul was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead.
According to witnesses, the motorcycle was travelling behind a Sakura Paribahan bus heading from Barishal to Faridpur. When a battery-operated rickshaw-van came in front of the motorcycle in the Mashaujan area, the rider suddenly braked, causing both riders to fall onto the road. The bus coming from behind then ran over them.
Bhanga Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Helal Uddin said the bus has been seized, but the driver fled the scene. Legal action is being taken.
