Two motorcyclists killed in bus crash on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway

Two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by a bus on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Chakaria upazila. Another person was seriously injured in the incident.

The accident occurred around 4:30 am on Thursday, March 26, in the Baniarchara area of Baraitoli union in the upazila, police said.

The deceased are Shariful Islam, 30, and Raisul Islam Shishir, 30, from Atipara in Northkhan, Dhaka. Both were riding the motorcycle.

According to police sources, a bus named 'Lal Shobuj Paribahan' was travelling from Chattogram towards Cox's Bazar. It struck a motorcycle travelling in the same lane from behind, causing the motorcycle to be crushed and killing the two riders instantly.

The driver of another motorcycle heading in the opposite direction lost control during the incident and was seriously injured. He was rescued and admitted to a local hospital.

Chiringa Highway Police said the bus and motorcycle have been seized from the scene. However, the bus driver fled and is being pursued.

Police said the families of the deceased have been informed, and the bodies will be handed over after legal procedures. Legal action is underway.
