Two NCP leaders declared 'undesirable' in Bogura over offensive comments on PM

Two central leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) have been declared 'undesirable' in Bogura by a group of former Chhatra Dal leaders and July movement activists over allegations of making offensive comments about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on social media. Protesters also tore down a banner of NCP Joint Member Secretary Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir and set it on fire .

The protest programme took place on Friday afternoon at the Sathmatha area in Bogura city under the banner of 'Former Chhatra Dal leaders and July fighters' .

Local sources said a banner featuring Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir's picture had been put up at the Saptapadi Market in Sathmatha for the NCP's national march. Protesters pulled down the banner, alleging that Tanvir had made offensive comments about the Prime Minister on his personal Facebook account .

The protesters later threw shoes at Tanvir's image on the banner and set it on fire in front of the city's July Martyrs Memorial, chanting slogans against him. Al Mamun, a former student leader of Government Shah Sultan College, demanded that Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir publicly apologise for his comments or face being barred from entering Bogura in the future .

NCP Central Member Secretary Nasiruddin Patwari was also declared 'undesirable' in Bogura alongside Tanvir at the protest rally.

The NCP has previously faced scrutiny over Tanvir's alleged misconduct. The party had temporarily relieved him from his duties in April 2025, following allegations of DC appointment interference and corruption .
