Two school students died from lightning strikes in Sherpur, Bogura, on Saturday afternoon (October 5). Seven others were injured in the incident. The incident occurred in the Garerbari area along the banks of the Bangali River in Sughat Union. The deceased have been identified as 14-year-old Zahidul Islam, son of Molla Bux from Jayla Aladi village, and 13-year-old Morsalin, son of Abu Taleb from Chak Khanpur village. Zahidul was a student of class 8 at Kalyani High School, while Morsalin was a student of class 7 at Khanupar High School. Shafiqul Islam, the officer-in-charge of Sherpur police station, confirmed the matter. He said, "Children and teenagers were playing in the rain when lightning struck, leading to the deaths of two individuals and injuring several others."

বগুড়ার শেরপুরে বজ্রপাতে দুই স্কুলছাত্রের মৃত্যু হয়েছে৷ এ ঘটনায় আহত হয়েছেন সাতজন। শনিবার (৫ অক্টোবর) দুপুরে সুঘাট ইউনিয়নের বাঙালি নদীর তীরে গড়েরবাড়ি এলাকায় এই ঘটনা ঘটে। মৃত দুজন হলেন- জয়লা আলাদী গ্রামের মোল্লা বক্সের ছেলে জাহিদুল ইসলাম (১৪) ও চক খানপুর গ্রামের আবু তালেবের ছেলে মোরছালিন (১৩)। জাহিদুল ইসলাম কল্যাণী উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের ৮ম এবং মোরছালিন খানুপর উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের ৭ম শ্রেণির ছাত্র। এসব তথ্য নিশ্চিত করে শেরপুর থানার ওসি শফিকুল ইসলাম বলেন, বৃষ্টিপাতের সময় শিশু-কিশোররা খেলাধূলা করছিল। ওই সময় বজ্রপাতে দুজনের মৃত্যু হয়। এ ঘটনায় বেশ কয়েকজন আহত হয়েছেন।
