Two SSC examinees die after taking bath in Gorai river

Two friends have died while taking bath in Gorai river after SSC exam in Kushtia. The incident took place in Haripur Setu area of ​​Hatsh Haripur Union on Wednesday (May 20) afternoon.

The deceased are Apurba Ifti (Taif) son of Saiful Islam and Sakibul Islam, son of Nurul Islam of the area. Taif and Sakibul had participated in the SSC exam this year from the science department of the Old Kushtia High School and Kushtia Zilla School, respectively.

According to local and eyewitness, the written exam of SSC ended on Wednesday. After the exam, the two friends took bath in Gorai river. First Sakibul drowned in the water, at some point Taif also drowned. Locals rescued them and took them to Kushtia General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared them dead.

The hospital's Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Iqbal Hasan said that the two students were brought to the hospital dead after 4:30 pm.

Kushtia Fire Service and Civil Defense Assistant Director Wadud Hossain said that before the fire service reached the spot, local people rescued them and sent them to the hospital.
