Police recovered the bodies of two women from separate areas in the capital on Wednesday night and sent them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.

The deceased were identified as Marzia Akter, 25, and Rina Begum, 45.

According to police, Marzia’s body was recovered around 11:00pm from a residence on Kabarstan Road in the Meradia Jamtala area under Khilgaon Police Station jurisdiction.

Sub-Inspector Md. Fakhrul Islam said initial findings suggest she may have died by suicide following a family dispute. An unnatural death case has been filed.

Marzia hailed from Fulbaria upazila of Mymensingh district and had been living in a rented house in the capital.

In a separate incident, police recovered the body of Rina Begum from a tin-shed house in the Mouchak Colony of Azimpur Staff Quarters under Lalbagh area.

Sub-Inspector Mohammad Belayet Hossain said the body was sent for autopsy, adding that preliminary information from family members indicates ongoing marital conflict. Rina is suspected to have died by suicide after hanging herself with a scarf.

Rina Begum was a resident of Keraniganj and had been living in Azimpur with her husband, Abdul Salam.

Police said the exact causes of death in both cases will be confirmed after autopsy reports, and further legal procedures are underway.
