Two workers killed by electrocution at Laxmipur brick kiln

Two workers died due to electrocution at a brick kiln in the Sutar Gopta area of Laxmipur Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon (April 2).

The deceased have been identified as Rubel Hossain, 28, son of Selim Uddin, and Alauddin, 35, son of Tajul Islam, both residents of Bhabaniganj.

According to police and local sources, the workers were taking a break inside a tin shed at the NBC Bricks kiln (locally known as Akbar Company) when the structure became electrified, causing the fatal shock. They were rushed to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex, where on-duty doctors declared them dead.

The victims’ bodies have been sent to the Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

Mohammad Wahid Parvez, officer-in-charge (OC) of Laxmipur Sadar Police Station, said, "The case is being investigated and authorities are looking into safety lapses at the kiln."
