Two youths suffer gunshot wounds in Shahjahanpur

Two young men were injured after being shot by miscreants in a drug-related conflict in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area.

The incident took place around 10:30pm on Thursday (September 11) at South Khilgaon Jhilpar, Shahjahanpur.

The victims were identified as Bishal, 26, and Robin, 26. They were later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Robin is reportedly a professional mugger from Shahjahanpur Bagicha area and has multiple cases filed against him in different police stations in Dhaka. On the otherhand, Bishal, a Laguna driver, lives in Madartek under Sobujbagh, according to Md Mohsin Talukder, Sub-Inspector (SI) at Shahjahanpur Police Station.

He said, "Bishal and Robin had an ongoing dispute with a youth named Shanto over drugs. The two had previously attacked Shanto with sharp weapons, injuring him. On Thursday night, another altercation took place, during which Shanto allegedly shot both Bishal and Robin before fleeing."

"Bishal was shot in the right abdomen, while Robin sustained a gunshot wound to the left side. An investigation into this matter is underway," he added.
