UCSI Hospital launches medical referral centre in Dhaka

Malaysia-based UCSI Group's institution, UCSI Hospital, has officially launched a medical referral centre in Bangladesh. The referral centre, established at the UCSI University Bangladesh campus in Banani, Dhaka, was inaugurated recently.

UCSI University Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Siti Hamisah Binti Tapsir cut the ribbon to inaugurate the referral centre.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were Chairman of Insight Institute of Learning (IIL) and Senior Vice President of UCSI University Bangladesh campus Ariful Bari Mozumder, Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Kushairi, Vice President (Academic) Professor Dr H M Zahir, Proctor Major Sumon Subhan (retd) and IIL Director and Secretary Dr Muhammad Khaled.

After the inauguration, the guests toured the newly established referral centre. Concerned officials said the centre will provide emergency medical assistance to students, teachers and officials and employees of the Bangladesh campus, as well as necessary medical advice and administrative coordination for Bangladeshi patients to receive affordable and quality medical care in Malaysia.

UCSI Hospital is the only private hospital in Malaysia that also has a public service branch. Through this, the hospital is working to expand access to quality healthcare for the wider population. The hospital has 130 beds.

The hospital is also contributing to the development of healthcare and medical science through cooperation with various top universities in the world. Alongside general treatment, UCSI Hospital provides various specialised medical services including cancer treatment (oncology), cardiology, surgery, ear-nose-throat (ENT) and orthopaedics.
