UCSI University Vice-Chancellor Dr Siti Hamishah in Dhaka

Vice-Chancellor and President of Malaysia’s UCSI University Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Siti Hamishah Binti Tafsira spent a busy first day of her four-day visit to Bangladesh. She was welcomed with floral greetings by Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Provost, Registrar along with teachers, students and officials when she arrived at the UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus in the capital’s Banani on Saturday (September 19) morning.

At the beginning of the day she held a meeting with Chairman of Insight Institute of Learning-IIL and Senior Vice President of UCSI University Bangladesh Branch Campus Ariful Bari Mazumder. At that time they discussed academic and overall matters of the Bangladesh campus.

Later Professor Siti Hamishah held a meeting with the university’s senior management, deans and faculty members. Among others present at that time were Pro-VC of Bangladesh campus Professor Dr Kushairi Bin Muhammad Rajuddin, Director of IIL Lt Col Nazim Uddin Ahmed (Retd), Vice President Aniza Parveen, Vice President Academic Professor Dr HM Zahir, Provost Major Suman Subhan (Retd) and Registrar Professor Shah Samiur Rashid.

Professor Dr Siti Hamishah delivered a speech at a gathering of students in the hall room of the Bangladesh campus at noon. Open discussions were held on teaching, curriculum and campus life in this open discussion with the students. The Vice-Chancellor answered various questions of the students.

In the afternoon Professor Hamishah delivered a public lecture on ‘Leadership and Private University Management’ at the same place. She said private universities in higher education are moving forward by facing multi-dimensional challenges. She said, “The curriculum of UCSI University has been prepared in such a way that we are not only producing graduates for jobs, every graduate will become a job creator.”

High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Bangladesh Haji Haris Bin Othman and Head of Chancery of the Malaysian High Commission Hajwan Hasnol were present at the public lecture programme. Besides, Director General of Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies-BIDS Professor AK Enamul Haque, Vice-Chancellor of Prime Asia University Professor Dr ANM Meshkayet Uddin and MD and CEO of Bangladesh Satellite Company Dr Imadur Rahman were present.
