UK wants to assist Bangladesh for conducting peaceful election
British high commissioner Sarah Cook has said the United Kingdom is keen to assist Bangladesh in holding the 13th national parliamentary election in a peaceful manner.
Speaking after an hour-long meeting with chief election commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission office on Monday, September 29, she said her country wishes to support free, fair and peaceful polls.
She noted that the UK also wants to provide assistance in training polling staff and supporting voter education programmes.
The election commission is preparing to conduct the polls in early February, holding discussions with foreign envoys as part of its preparations.
