UK warns Bangladeshis of 10-year ban for visa fraud
The British High Commission in Dhaka has announced that the United Kingdom will impose a 10-year travel ban on Bangladeshi nationals found involved in visa fraud or any illegal means to enter the country.
The information was shared in a statement issued by the High Commission on Tuesday (Novemember 25).
According to the statement, the move is part of the UK’s strengthened actions against fraudulent visa practices.
British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cook said visa fraud destroys people’s aspirations and exposes families to severe financial and personal risks.
She noted that fraud facilitators exploit individuals seeking better opportunities, often leading them into danger.
The High Commissioner urged applicants to use only official channels and lawful procedures for visa applications.
The statement added that fraudulent activities by criminal networks cause millions of pounds in losses annually and leave vulnerable people in Bangladesh and globally exposed to exploitation, financial harm, and legal consequences.
It also highlighted that visa fraud and illegal migration schemes have become increasingly sophisticated, with false promises such as guaranteed visas, unqualified job offers, and expedited processing in exchange for excessive fees—often resulting in financial loss, visa refusal, travel bans, or even trafficking and exploitation.
