Ultimatum to return looted stones
Sylhet Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Padmasan Singh has given an ultimatum to return all the stones looted from the Sadapathor tourist center of Companiganj in Sylhet within three days.
He gave this ultimatum as the chief guest at a meeting with people from different classes and professions at the Companiganj Upazila Parishad auditorium on Saturday (August 23) afternoon.
Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Robin Mia presided over the meeting, and Companiganj Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdul Matin delivered the welcome speech.
Also present and speaking at the meeting were Gowainghat Circle ASP Abdullah Al Noman, BGB Company Commander Iqbal Hossain, upazila public representatives, members of the Mill Owners Association, stone traders, politicians and prominent figures in the area.
The Additional District Commissioner said: "If all the looted white stones are returned to the Bholaganj dumping site within the three-day deadline we have given, then no case will be filed. After three days, if we find white stones in someone's crusher or in front of their house, no one will be spared. We will file a case against them if necessary."
He said: "You know, our detectives are working in various ways. Discussions will be held with the union chairman and ward members on how to recover the looted white stones from each union and ward. Even the UNO of Companiganj will conduct miking from the afternoon."
"We are trying to recover the looted stones in any way and return them to their original place. We seek everyone's cooperation in this," he added.
