UN Under-Secretary General meets Army Chief

UN Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix paid a courtesy call on Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman.

The meeting was held at the Dhaka Cantonment on Monday (April 21). This information was given through a post on the army's verified Facebook page.

The post said that Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman received a courtesy call from UN Under-Secretary General Jean-Pierre Lacroix. In addition to exchanging greetings in this cordial meeting, the Under-Secretary General highly appreciated the professionalism and efficiency of the Bangladesh Armed Forces in the UN peacekeeping mission. In addition, he discussed various issues related to training and capacity building for the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission. In addition, he praised the professionalism and various activities of the army members currently deployed in Aid to Civil Power.

The post further said that the Army Chief assured full cooperation in the regular and future deployment of the Bangladesh Army in UN peacekeeping operations and informed the Under Secretary General that this commitment will remain unwavering in the coming days.
