UNDP reappoints Jaya Ahsan as Goodwill Ambassador

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has officially reappointed celebrated actress Jaya Ahsan as its Goodwill Ambassador in Bangladesh for a third consecutive term.

In her renewed role, Jaya Ahsan will continue to champion the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a focus on poverty reduction, gender equality, climate action, and inclusive governance. Specifically, she will advocate for SDGs 1, 5, 13, and 16, aiming to raise awareness and mobilize support on these critical issues.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Jaya said, “I’m privileged to continue with UNDP. With only five years left to achieve the SDGs, urgency is greater than ever. This is a shared responsibility, and I am committed to using every platform to inspire collective action for a better future.”

Stefan Liller, UNDP Resident Representative in Bangladesh, welcomed her return, stating, “We are delighted to have Jaya Ahsan back as our Goodwill Ambassador. She is not only a celebrated artist but also a strong advocate for equity and sustainability. Her voice has brought the SDG message closer to citizens, and we look forward to building on this momentum.”

During her term, Jaya will actively support UNDP’s campaigns to empower communities, protect the environment, and promote resilience, contributing significantly to Bangladesh’s journey toward meeting the SDGs by 2030.
