Unhindered Eid journey on Cumilla-Noakhali highway after clearing bushes
People of all classes, including government and private sector employees, are returning home without any hindrance to share the joy of the holy Eid-ul-Azha with their loved ones.
As the ten-day holiday begins on Wednesday (June 4), the pressure of people heading home, passenger vehicles and trucks carrying sacrificial animals on the Dhaka-Chattogram as well as the Cumilla-Noakhali regional highway and the Cumilla-Chandpur road has increased considerably. However, due to the coordinated efforts of the Laksam Crossing Highway Police Station and other forces, there is no traffic jam anywhere.
It has been seen on the spot that various measures have been taken to prevent robbery and crimes as well as to maintain traffic discipline on the regional highway to reduce the suffering of passengers. Checkpoints are being set up and searches are being carried out by raising public awareness by using microphones at important places. Illegal shops are being removed from the sidewalks, bushes are being cleared, and solar street lights are being installed in the areas of Shikarpur, Srinivas and Jelkhana Bari, which are at risk of robbery and mugging. Patrols have also been increased at night.
Highway Police's Cumilla Region Additional DIG (Police Superintendent) Khairul Alam and Laksam Crossing Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Adel Akbar said that all possible measures have been taken to celebrate Eid peacefully and safely, including increasing security checkposts and night patrols. Police members are working tirelessly day and night.
Hossain Mia of Noakhali-bound Coastal Transport said that due to the activities of the police and the army, the transports from Cumilla are reaching their destinations without any problems with passengers. This time there is no major traffic jam anywhere. They are also happy to bring peace to the minds of people heading home on the Eid journey.
