Unidentified body washes ashore on Chattogram coast
Police have recovered the body of an unidentified man that washed ashore along the Bay of Bengal coast in Anwara upazila of Chattogram.
The body was found stucked between concrete blocks of a coastal embankment near Sattar Majhi Ghat in South Paruapara under Raipur union around 9:0am on Saturday morning (July 11).
Local residents alerted police after fishermen and passers-by spotted the body.
According to witnesses, the deceased was wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt.
Authorities believe the body was carried to the shoreline by the incoming tide before becoming trapped in the embankment.
Junaid Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (OC) of Anwara Police Station, said, "The body would be sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for an autopsy after completion of the inquest report."
"The victim's identity has yet to be established and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the death," he added.
