Unidentified woman dies after being hit by train in Chapainawabganj

An unidentified woman has died after being hit by a train in Gomostapur of Chapainawabganj. The accident occurred beside the railway bridge in Rohanpur College Mor area around 5pm on Monday (August 31).

In-charge of Amnura Railway Police Outpost Sofiqul Islam informed that the incident occurred about 500 metres away from Rohanpur Railway Station. The age of the deceased woman is approximately 40 years. It was not possible to identify her identity immediately.

Rohanpur Station Master Mirza Kamrul Islam and eyewitnesses informed that the woman was positioned beside the railway line before a commuter train going to Rohanpur from Rajshahi came near the spot. Several local women tried to stop her after seeing her advancing towards the railway line.

According to the statement of the eyewitnesses, the woman advanced in front of the train by ignoring the obstruction and collided with the train. Due to this she received a serious injury on the head and died at the spot.

After getting the news the members of Amnura Railway Police Outpost went to the spot and recovered the body. In-charge of the outpost Sofiqul Islam has informed that police is working to identify the identity of the deceased.

Necessary legal process is ongoing in this incident. However police is trying to know the details by investigating why that woman had gone to the railway line.
