Unidentified woman's body found near DMCH emergency unit

Police have recovered the body of an unidentified woman from beside the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in the capital. She was found unconscious around 5:45 pm on Friday, May 8, and was taken to the emergency department, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, said police were alerted by ward master Md Ayub Ali and went to the scene. The woman was then recovered from beside the waiting room behind the emergency department.

He said it is initially believed that the woman died due to illness. However, the exact cause of death will be confirmed after receiving the autopsy report.

Police said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue. The Criminal Investigation Department has been informed to identify the woman, and efforts are underway to determine her identity with the help of technology. The concerned police station has also been notified.
