Water Resources Minister and BNP Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie has announced new plans for the development of Lakshmipur, highlighting the long-standing neglect and deprivation faced by the district.

He said steps will be taken to establish a university, a medical college and an economic zone in Lakshmipur. The implementation of these initiatives will bring significant changes to the district's education, health and economic sectors, he added.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting with the newly formed Chandganj upazila BNP and its associate organisations on Friday afternoon, May 15.

He also serves as the member of parliament for the Lakshmipur-3 (Sadar) constituency and the convener of the district BNP.

"We have suffered 17 years of deprivation. We will no longer remain neglected or ignored. We have proven that with the formation of Chandganj upazila," Annie Chowdhury said.

He emphasised the need to uplift Lakshmipur, which has long lagged behind in various development sectors, including roads, waterlogging and educational institutions, stating that it is urgent to overcome these problems.

Special guests at the event included District Council Administrator Sahab Uddin Sabu, District BNP Joint Convener Hasibur Rahman, BFF Vice President Wahid Uddin Chowdhury, Chandganj Thana BNP President Belal Hossain, General Secretary Yusuf Bhuiyan, and District PP Ahmed Ferdous Manik, along with other local leaders.
