University student found dead in Tangail

Police have recovered the hanging body of a university student from Ghatail upazila in Tangail.

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan Jihad, 23, a second-year undergraduate student at City University and son of Ranju Mia of Jogihati Moddhopara area.

According to family members and local residents, Jihad had been experiencing mental stress related to personal issues for a long time. These matters reportedly led to occasional misunderstandings within the family.

Family members said he went to sleep in his room after dinner on Friday night.

They were unable to find him and later discovered him hanging in the stairwell of the house on Saturday morning. Police were informed and subsequently recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mokhsedur Rahman of Ghatail Police Station said police recovered the body after receiving information about the incident.

"The exact cause of death cannot be confirmed at this stage. We are investigating the matter, and the necessary legal procedures are underway," the OC said.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the student's death.
