UNO expresses regret after video of assault goes viral

An Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) has expressed regret after a video surfaced showing him assaulting a worker of a sand quarry leaseholder in Trishal, Mymensingh. Following the incident, he did not go to his office for the day.

The assault allegedly took place on Wednesday night, with a video of the incident circulating on social media. On Thursday afternoon, a meeting was held at a hospital run by local MP Mahbubur Rahman to resolve the matter, attended by BNP leaders and activists.

UNO Arafat Siddiqui expressed regret for the incident. He said discussions were held at the initiative of the local MP and that there was no further issue.

When asked about the video circulating on social media, the UNO said the incident occurred suddenly during official proceedings and expressed regret for his actions. Earlier on Wednesday, he was accused of assaulting a worker at a sand quarry in Trishal's Kalirbazar area. The video went viral, sparking widespread discussion.
