UNO-DC to serve as Chairperson in schools, colleges

The Ministry of Education has directed that in private schools and colleges where the term of the ad hoc committee has expired, the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) at the sub-district level and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) or their representative at the district level will assume the role of chairperson. A circular regarding this was issued on Saturday, November 15.

The directive was issued by the Private Secondary-1 Section of the Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education under the “Rules for Governing Body and Managing Committee of Private Schools and Colleges under Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Boards, 2024”, including Dhaka Board and other boards, according to Clause 69.

The circular further states that under the High Court Division’s writ petition No. 16757/2015, the notification issued by the Ministry on September 8 to form ad hoc and regular committees under the 2024 rules (including amendments) has been suspended for three months. This directive has been issued in accordance with that decision.
