US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman on Sunday (April 5) at the Prime Minister’s Office. Atikur Rahman Ruman, additional press secretary to the PM, confirmed this following the meeting. During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of mutual interest. Ambassador Christensen presented the Prime Minister with two historic photographs and a replica of the White House. One photograph features the late President Ziaur Rahman with former US President Jimmy Carter, and the other shows former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia with former US President George Bush Sr.. Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir were also attended the meeting.

বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূত ব্রেন্ট টি. ক্রিস্টেনসেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমানের সাথে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেছেন। রোববার (৫ এপ্রিল) দুপুরে প্রধানমন্ত্রীর সচিবালয়ে এই সাক্ষাৎ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। প্রধানমন্ত্রীর অতিরিক্ত প্রেস সচিব আতিকুর রহমান রুমন বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। সাক্ষাৎকালে উভয়ের মধ্যে পারস্পরিক স্বার্থসংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন বিষয়ে আলোচনা হয়। এ সময় রাষ্ট্রদূত প্রধানমন্ত্রীর হাতে দুটি ঐতিহাসিক ছবি এবং হোয়াইট হাউসের একটি রেপ্লিকা তুলে দেন। একটি ছবিতে শহীদ প্রেসিডেন্ট জিয়াউর রহমান ও সাবেক মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট জিমি কার্টারকে এবং অপর ছবিতে সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়া ও সাবেক মার্কিন প্রেসিডেন্ট জর্জ বুশ সিনিয়রকে দেখা যাচ্ছে। সাক্ষাতে পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী ড. খলিলুর রহমান ও পররাষ্ট্র উপদেষ্টা হুমায়ুন কবিরও উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
