US citizen's body recovered from Hotel Westin
The body of a US citizen has been recovered from the Hotel Westin in the capital's Gulshan.
Gulshan Police Station OC Hafizur Rahman said the body of a 50-year-old man named Terence Arvel Jackson was recovered from a hotel room on Sunday afternoon.
He said that the man's body was taken into custody by the US Embassy in Dhaka 'without an autopsy'.
Police said that the hotel authorities called Jackson after he did not come out of the room on Sunday afternoon but did not receive any response. Later, when the door was opened in the presence of police and US embassy officials, he was found lying in the room. A doctor and other officials from the embassy examined the body.
Later, after it was suspected that he had died naturally, the embassy officials took the body into custody 'without an autopsy', police said.
According to embassy sources, he came to Bangladesh a few months ago on business purpose. He checked into the hotel last Saturday (August 30).
