US embassy urges citizens to leave Saudi Arabia immediately
The US embassy in Riyadh has issued an urgent security warning for American citizens residing in Saudi Arabia. The embassy has advised that they should leave Saudi Arabia via commercial flights as soon as possible.
Gulf News, a Middle East-based media outlet, reported this on Sunday, March 15. Citing the US embassy, it said the situation in the Middle East is changing rapidly, and President Trump, Secretary of State Rubio and the State Department will prioritise the safety of American citizens.
The embassy informed that Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam airports are open and operational. However, there are regular restrictions on Saudi airspace due to the risk of missile and drone attacks. Passengers are advised to check updates directly with airlines before flights.
For those unable to leave the country, the embassy has instructed them to ensure they stay at home or in a nearby safe location and stock up on essential supplies including food, water and medicine.
The embassy warned all American citizens to follow the directives of local authorities, avoid unnecessary movement, and regularly follow the latest instructions from the embassy and consulate.
