Bangladesh and the United States have agreed to continue their discussions on tariffs and trade. While both sides reached consensus on several key issues during the final day of the three-day second-round talks, some matters remain unresolved. To enhance the effectiveness of the negotiations, both countries have decided to conduct inter-ministerial dialogues.

This information was released in a statement by the Chief Advisor’s Press Wing on Saturday (July 12).

According to the press release, inter-ministerial discussions between the two countries will continue to ensure the talks remain ongoing. Future meetings could take place either virtually or in person, with dates and times to be decided soon.

The Bangladesh delegation was led by Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin. National Security Adviser Dr. Khalilur Rahman and the Chief Advisor’s Special Assistant Foyez Tayyab participated virtually from Dhaka alongside him. Other senior government officials and experts also took part online.

The trade adviser and other officials are expected to return to Bangladesh on Sunday but may travel back to the US if needed, the statement added.

The entire process was coordinated by the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC. After the talks, the trade and security advisers expressed optimism that a positive agreement will be reached within the designated timeframe.
