4 die, 60 admitted to burn institute in training aircraft crash

An Air Force F-7 BGI training aircraft crashed on the campus of Milestone School and College in Diabari, Uttara, killing four people and injuring over 150. Among the deceased is the pilot, Squadron Leader Toukir Islam Sagar. Most of the injured are students of the institution.

Sixty of the injured, suffering severe burns, have been admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute, according to Director Dr Nasir Uddin. Four others are receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), while many more have been admitted to various hospitals, including Bangladesh Medical College Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, and several others in the area.

Rescue and investigation operations are ongoing, involving 10 Fire Service units, the Army, Air Force, and law enforcement agencies.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the plane took off at 1:06 PM and crashed into a school building at 1:24 PM. The crash has caused widespread panic among students, parents, and locals, many of whom have gathered at the campus and hospitals searching for loved ones.

Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, expressed deep condolences over the tragedy.

Social media footage shows distressed students and parents amid smoke and fire at the crash site.
