VAT inspector beaten and tied to pole on false suspicion
VAT inspector Saiful Islam has been accused of being beaten and tied to an electric pole on false suspicion in Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria. The incident took place in Durgarampur of the upazila around 2pm on Saturday (May 9). A person named Sabuj Mia was injured at that time.
According to police and local sources, VAT inspector Saiful Islam went to 'Ms. Allah Bhorsha Enterprise' in Durgarampur on Saturday afternoon. There, he showed his visiting card and wanted to see VAT-related documents from Habibur Rahman, the owner of Messrs. Allah Bhorsha Enterprise.
Habibur Rahman suspected the VAT inspector of being a fake because he was on duty on a government holiday and gathered local people. Later, they snatched his mobile phone and tied him to an electric pole.
Later, they beat him up and seriously injured him. At that time, Md. A man named Sabuj Mia came forward and stopped him and was also beaten and injured. Later, the police rescued him and took him to the hospital.
The VAT inspector has been taken to the hospital, said Bancharampur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Yasin. He said that a written complaint has not been received in this incident yet. Action will be taken based on the complaint.
