The room of the Vice-Chancellor of Rajshahi Medical University (RMU) has been unlocked by cutting the lock in the presence of Executive Magistrate Md Arif Hossain. The room was unlocked around 12:15pm on Thursday.

Earlier, BNP leaders and activists brought Vice-Chancellor Professor Jawadul Haque from his residence in the uposhohor to the university's temporary campus.

Metropolitan BNP Vice President Joynal Abedin Shibli, Swechasebak Dal General Secretary Asaduzzaman Jani, Jubo Dal Convener Md Shariful Islam Jani, former Chhatra Dal President Akbar Ali Jacky, General Secretary Emdadul Haque Limon and Senior Vice President Md Abir, along with other leaders and activists, were present while bringing the Vice-Chancellor.

After the lock was opened, the investigating officer of the case collected necessary evidence from the room.

In this regard, Executive Magistrate Md Arif Hossain said outsiders had put a lock on the room. The lock was opened and the room was handed over to the investigating officer. The law and order situation there is currently normal.

Jubo Dal Convener Shariful Islam Jani said they brought the Vice-Chancellor from his home with due respect on the central directives of BNP and the instructions of Metropolitan BNP President Mamunur Rashid and General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman.

He said BNP and its affiliated organisations do not condone any kind of occupation or terrorist activities. If any leader or activist of the party is involved in the unwanted incident, organisational action will be taken against them.

Last Tuesday, allegations were raised that the Vice-Chancellor was forced to sign a paper at RMU's temporary office. According to the Vice-Chancellor, he was not allowed to read the paper. He was forced to sign the paper out of fear of being humiliated. He was later forced out of the office.

A case was filed over the incident, naming 50 to 60 unidentified individuals as accused. Three people have been arrested in the case so far. The last two arrested are Md Ali Akbar Hossain and Md Delwar Hossain. Police said several others involved have been identified by analysing video and photos of the incident.

University Section Officer Md Nazmul Hossain said Land Minister Md Mizanur Rahman Minu will take the Vice-Chancellor to his room this evening. The Vice-Chancellor will then speak to the media.

Meanwhile, leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami, Chhatra Dal, Jubo Dal and Ulama Dal visited the medical university area from the morning to keep the situation normal.
