Vegetables to Polythene, Banana to Tin: PM on the side of young innovator
Sajjadul Islam, a young innovator from Moulvibazar, has won praise for his innovation of making corrugated tin, tiles and boards from discarded vegetables into eco-friendly biodegradable polythene and banana fibers.
He presented various products he invented at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday. During this time, Tarique Rahman closely observed the innovations and wanted to know more about his research and activities.
Inventor Sajjadul Islam said that he has made eco-friendly and biodegradable polythene by processing rotten and discarded vegetables. He has also invented a technology to make sustainable and cost-effective corrugated tin, tiles and boards using banana fibers.
Assuring state support, the Prime Minister's Office emphasized on the commercial expansion of these innovations. Those concerned opined that such indigenous technology can play an important role in environmental conservation, waste management and local industrial development.
The government has expressed its hope to further advance such research and innovation in the future by encouraging young innovators.
