Verdicts in several ongoing corruption cases against Sheikh Hasina and her family are expected by November, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) chairman said Wednesday.

Dr Mohammad Abdul Momen made the announcement at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka after signing a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) to enhance anti-corruption efforts. The MoU was signed on behalf of the ACC by Director General (Prevention) Md. Akhtar Hossain and on behalf of TIB by Executive Director Dr. Iftekharuzzaman.

“The verdicts in some ongoing cases may come by November,” Dr Momen told reporters, adding that the MoU is aimed at making anti-corruption measures more dynamic.

Dr Iftekharuzzaman said political will and a shift in bureaucratic mindset are essential for the ACC’s independence. He also emphasized that corruption is evolving over time and urged the ACC to adapt its strategies, describing TIB as a key “watchdog partner.”
