Video of youth walking with gun raised and shooting goes viral

A video of a young man walking with a gun raised and shooting in front of a garment factory in the Kalurghat heavy industrial area of ​​Chattogram city has gone viral on social media. The 37-second CCTV footage shows a young man pulling out a pistol and shooting at the factory and then shooting again while walking along the road.

Police said the incident took place on Saturday morning local time.

According to police and local sources, a group of five people took up position in front of the UNESCO Garment Factory in the Kalurghat BSCIC Industrial Area. One of them had a firearm in his hand. After a while, the young man wearing a pink T-shirt pointed at the factory and fired blank shots and then continued shooting in the same way.

Locals claim that various parties have been active in the area for a long time, focusing on dominance, extortion and control of industrial establishments. Tension arose in the area after the incident and there were allegations of threats from one party.

In this regard, Chandgaon Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin said, "After learning about the incident, the police have started an investigation. No one has filed a written complaint yet. However, the matter is being viewed seriously and an investigation is underway."

Police said that work is underway to identify those involved in the incident and that no details are being released at this time in the interest of the investigation.
