Village police officer's wife stabbed to death in Rajshahi, accused's house set on fire

A woman named Farida Khatun, 40, was stabbed to death after an attacker entered her home in the Hariyan Purba Para village of Paba upazila, Rajshahi. The victim was the wife of local village police officer Lalon Sheikh. Their son, Md Foysal, was seriously injured while trying to save his mother and is currently undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Witnesses said an argument broke out on Friday evening over a dispute involving a neighbour named Parash, 18. Later, Parash and several others allegedly entered the house and carried out the attack. Farida was stabbed during the attack, and her son Foysal was injured while trying to protect her.

Hospital sources said Farida was brought to the emergency department dead. Her body remained at the college morgue until 11:00 am on Saturday.

Following the incident, angry locals set fire to the three-storey house of the accused, Parash. According to locals, family members had fled the building before the arson attack.

In connection with the incident, the victim's husband, Lalon Sheikh, filed a murder case with Katakhali police station. Rajshahi Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Deputy Commissioner Gaziur Rahman, said no suspects have been arrested so far. He added that the main accused, Parash, had previously been arrested in a drug-related case.
