Visa's top official in Bangladesh for digital payment discussions
Stephen Karpin, President of Visa's Asia-Pacific region, has arrived in Dhaka on a three-day visit, highlighting Bangladesh's rapidly growing digital economy and the country's increasing importance in the Asia-Pacific region. During his visit from August 10 to 12, he will hold discussions with various stakeholders on Bangladesh's digital payment system, financial technology and the potential of digital commerce.
Stephen Karpin is accompanied by Suresh Shetty, Visa's Group Country Manager for India and South Asia. During the visit, he will meet with government officials, financial institutions, fintech companies, businessmen and representatives of various merchant establishments.
Discussions are expected to focus on expanding the scope of digital commerce in Bangladesh, strengthening the security of online and card-based transactions, and further advancing the country's digital transformation.
As President of Visa's Asia-Pacific region, Stephen Karpin oversees the organisation's business operations and is also involved in implementing long-term growth plans. Advancing new technologies and innovation in areas such as digital payments, international commerce, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity is also part of his responsibilities.
