Vote campaigners allegedly make rape attempt on housewife
Vote campaigners have allegedly molested a housewife and made rape attempt on her in Bhuiyanpur of Tangail.
The victim's husband has filed a written complaint with Tangail Joint District and Sessions Judge Court in this incident.
The accused are Shahidul, 30, son of Ibrahim, Sohel, 25, son of the late Anwar Hossain, Enamul, 32, son of Ali Akbar Munshi, and Al Amin, 30, son of Akbar Fakir.
According to the complaint, four people including Shahidul of the same area went to Nazmul's house in Megharpatol village to seek votes. At that time, Nazmul was not at home and the housewife asked them to leave. The accused then pressured her to cast vote for the 'scale' symbol. The housewife informed that she was not a voter and that her entire family would vote for the 'paddy sheaf'. Enraged, one of the four, Shahidul, suddenly hugged the housewife and touched her sensitive body-part. The others tried to remove her clothes and tried to gang-rape her.
At that time, when the housewife screamed, the accused ran away. The complaint also mentions that when the incident came to light, the accused later returned and threatened to abduct her up.
The incident spread extreme anger and panic in the area. Locals say that such a heinous incident in the name of seeking vote is questioning the election environment and has created deep concern about the safety of women.
In this regard, Upazila Jamaat Ameer Abdullah Al Mamun said that the incident is completely false and fabricated.
Investigation officer of the case Memrajul Islam Rubel said that the complaint has been received. The matter is being investigated seriously.
