Voters can access polling centre information through mobile app
Ahead of the 13th national parliamentary election and referendum, the Bangladesh Election Commission has launched a new digital service to make voter information more accessible. Voters can now obtain all details of their designated polling centres from home using a mobile application.
The information was disclosed in a notice signed by Election Commission Public Relations Director Ruhul Amin Mallik on Tuesday, February 3.
The Election Commission said the app has been launched under its initiative and is named Smart Election Management BD. For voters’ convenience, the app has already been made available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
Using the app, voters can easily locate their polling centre by entering their national identity card number. Along with the centre’s name and address, the app provides geo-location support and map navigation facilities. Voters can also check the distance from their current location to the polling centre.
The app also allows users to view images of polling centres and access all election-related instructions. To enhance electoral transparency, detailed information about candidates has been included. In addition to information on registered political parties, voters can view affidavits of contesting candidates, enabling them to make informed decisions based on candidates’ qualifications and assets.
The Election Commission further said that election results will be available live through the app on polling day and afterwards. This will help ensure transparency and allow the public to access results quickly.
According to the commission, the digital initiative will reduce voter inconvenience and increase interest in voting, particularly among the younger generation.
