Voting environment fully favourable: EC Anwarul

Election Commissioner (EC) Anwarul Islam has said that the voting environment ahead of the upcoming national polls remains “hundred percent favourable” across the country so far.

He made the remark while speaking to reporters at the Election Commission office on Sunday (September 7) afternoon.

“There is no uncertainty. The Commission has not received any reports of adverse situations regarding the election,” Anwarul said.

On the issue of political party registration, the commissioner stated that almost all reports have already reached the Commission. A final decision is expected within a week, although parties will still have the chance to raise objections to names at the last stage of the process. The matter will be finalised within this month, he added.

Addressing confusion regarding the Constitution and existing laws, Anwarul said the proposed amendment to the Representation of the People Order (RPO) was finalised only after vetting by the ministry. “If there are any inconsistencies with other laws, they will be resolved accordingly,” he noted.
