Tarique Rahman for performing Fajr prayers outside polling stations to check vote rigging
BNP Chairperson Tarique Rahman has urged voters to offer Fajr prayers in front of polling centres, alleging that there are conspiracies surrounding the upcoming vote. He said voters should not go to polling stations only in the morning to cast their ballots, but should line up after offering Fajr prayers at the centres.
He made the call while addressing an election rally as the chief guest at Kuttapara playground in Sarail upazila of Brahmanbaria at around 10:30pm on Thursday (January 22).
At the same programme, he introduced BNP and alliance-nominated candidates for the six parliamentary constituencies in Brahmanbaria.
Tarique Rahman further said that the manner in which ballot papers sent for expatriate voters were seized by a political party had also been witnessed inside the country. He stressed the need for vigilance in voting, calling on voters to stand in line after offering Fajr prayers and cast their votes in favour of 'Dhaner Shish'.
He also outlined plans for forming a government, pledging to introduce a ‘Family Card’ for women and an ‘Agriculture Card’ for farmers. He said the Family Card would be used to deliver support to women so that they can manage their households effectively, while the Agriculture Card would ensure the supply of fertiliser, seeds and pesticides to farmers.
Those present at the rally included Brahmanbaria district BNP President Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal, BNP Chairperson’s adviser Mushfiqur Rahman, Chief Coordinator of the Ganosamhati Andolon Jonayed Saki, Joint Secretary General of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Bangladesh Junayed Al Habib, along with other party leaders.
